ARTLINK COMMISSION- CUSTOM BIOPLASTIC VESSELS FOR A CRUISE SHIP
Reflecting TUI Mein Schiff’s commitment to sustainability and discovery, several artists featured on Mein Schiff 7 were chosen for their innovative and eco-friendly practices. Among them, American, Polish, and Italian artist Caroline Zimbalist created a series of unique bioplastic sculptures distributed throughout the ship. Inspired by nature, the artist envisions unconventional amalgamations of shapes and colors, capturing the essence of our curious, evolving world. Using a mix of plant-based and natural materials, including starch, glycerin, and agar powder, the artist employs innovative techniques to mold and dye the eco-friendly bioplastic into unique, organic forms. The inherent versatility of bioplastic allows for endless exploration in creating new forms, making each piece a testament to the limitless possibilities of ecologically-conscious art. This approach enhaces the experience of discovery aboard the ship, encouraging guests to connect deeply with both the art and the environment.
