About Caroline Zimbalist

Caroline Zimbalist is an artist and designer who hand creates one-of-a-kind pieces using nontraditional processes and techniques. She’s studied painting, illustrating, and sculpting since she was four and earned a BFA at Parsons studying fashion. She developed an enthusiasm for avant-garde design while furthering her schooling at Central Saint Martins, London. Always interested in making her own materials and pushing color boundaries, she started stripping abstract paintings off their frames and creating garments with the idea of draping bodies in different color palettes. For the past several years she has become proficient with bio-plastics and is creating clothing, jewelry, and sculptures with this relevant textile. She molds her unique recipe of biodegradable and natural materials into striking, three-dimensional forms not just for the ecological value of the technique but for the versatility it permits. Caroline also works as a CAD designer for a NYC based clothing company and owns three rescue dogs. Her art has been sold in venues such as the Whitney Museum gift shop, 1st Dibs, Lovehouse, Kravet Curated, Ssense, and Moda Operandi.

Caroline Zimbalist has been officially recognized as part of the Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2025 in the Arts and Style category, a testament to her innovative contributions and significant impact within the creative industries. This accolade highlights her dedication to advancing the intersection of design, biomaterials, and wearable art, solidifying her position as a leading voice among emerging designers.
Every vessel is meticulously fashioned using Caroline's self-created biomaterial recipe, resulting in a unique bio-plastic that boasts durability, translucency, lightweightness, and dynamic characteristics. Moreover, each piece is coated with a bio-epoxy resin, ensuring waterproofing and suitability for all weather conditions.
2019: Graduated from Parsons School Of Design.
2021: Work on display at Whitney Museum Gift Shop and other galleries such as Lovehouse in NYC.
2022: MELT, HNH Gallery, New York. Collaborations with PH5 and Elena Velez
2023: Expressions, Interpretations and Connections, ATTA Gallery, Bangkok Thailand Adorno Design X OAD Interiors 2023- Brooklyn, NY 11/7-12/5. Collaborations with Sami Miro Vintage and Jane Wade.
2024: Custom dress for Met Gala 2024-Fashionista writer, Brooke Frischer. Collaboration with Apparis, Ultra Fabrics, Ace Hotel, first NYFW show, and several celebrities dressed in CZ such as Chappell Roan, Little Miss Flint, Renee Rap, Kimbra, and more.
